As more and more Tegra 3-based devices become the norm, we will see more and more devices being launched. Chinese manufacturer Tianyu is no exception to this and has launched its K-Touch Treasure V8. Among the confirmed features in the device are the Tegra 3 processor, 4.3-inch screen and Ice Cream Sandwich. Rumor also has it that this mysterious device will feature an 8MP camera and will run on China’s Unicom WCDMA network as well. Further details are scarce at the moment, but hopefully more information will come out on this device which will likely be found within China only.

Bing's Newspaper matching comes to UK

Bing Vision gets big boost tooMobile phones News By John McCann Friday at 13:04 UTC | Tell us what you think [ 1 comments ]

Tweet bing-s-newspaper-matching-comes-to-uk Bing takes on Goggles with Vision

Using Bing will help Windows Phone users search for digital versions of magazine and newspaper articles with its new Bing Image Matching for Newspapers feature.

The update, which is set to roll out to UK customers in March via Bing Vision, will use the phone's camera to take a photo of an article and then link the user directly to the online version.

Bing Image Matching for Newspapers offers users global access and provides content to over 3,000 publications worldwide.

Search using Book, CD and DVD covers

This will follow on from an update launched in the UK today which adds new functionality to the Bing Vision feature.

If you have a handset running Windows Phone you can already use Bing Vision to detect QR codes and Microsoft tags and search for related information online. The new update allows users to scan barcodes, CD, DVD and book covers using their phone's camera.

Bing Vision will then return relevant information on the product and it will be able to provide local availability and cost comparison information.

This is clearly Microsoft's attempt to compete with Google's Goggles application which does similar searches, but allows users to scan any brand logo or product.

These are useful features and it's great to see Bing expanding the technological appeal of the Windows Phone operating system. If you own a Windows Phone mobile are you looking forward to these updates?

1. Fyi Google Goggles also lets you scan a printed article to find the online version and is not at all limited to brand logos or products.

Google Music comes to iOS through web app

Google Music comes to iOS through web app

Google has launched a new iOS web app to allow Apple iPhone, iPad and iPod touch users to access the Music Beta service.

The application comes through the Safari browser at music.google.com, rather than the App Store and hence by-passes the need for Apple to approve an official app.

The arrival of Google Music Beta on iOS devices will give Google a chance to snare Apple users before iTunes Match on iCloud launches later this autumn.

It'll also give the Spotify Premium iOS apps a run for their money.

Slick

The iOS web app provides a slick and attractive user interface offering full access to up to 20,000 songs you've uploaded to the service.

Naturally, you can shuffle songs and search, while swiping left and right takes you between the artist, song and playlist listings.

Google is still keen to launch an official iOS app, but you feel with iTunes Match and iTunes in the Cloud coming out of Apple's own stable, it may take a little while to get the app approved.

A Google spokesperson said: "We're considering all options to bring the service to more people, but don't have anything official to share."

Google Music remains in Beta and is free to invited guests for the time being.
