Sony to Release Another New LTE Smartphone In June

"> 0by Stacy Bruce
tagged Hayabusa, leak, LTE, sony, xperia

According to sources close to Korean news site MT.co.kr, Sony plans on releasing a new LTE smartphone in the second half of this year. Not to be confused with the Xperia Ion which is already slated for international release, this will be an entirely new device and will be heading to South Korea as early as June.

It is believed that this new device may actually be the recently benchmarked Hayabusa (LT29i), and should retail for around €493 ($650). We originally spotted this device back in January when we got a hold of a leaked Sony smartphone roadmap. The LT29i Hayabusa is believed to have a 1.5GHz dual-core S4 Snapdragon processor, Adreno 225 GPU, Android 4.0, and according to the recent Nenamark benchmark test, a screen resolution of 720 x 1,196. I have to go on record here and say I believe that last one is a complete error on somebody’s part. Either way we should know more soon and will keep you posted.

Samsung Series 9 notebook UK release date revealed

Not long to waitPC News By Marc Chacksfield Wednesday at 11:00 UTC | Tell us what you think [ 2 comments ]

Tweet samsung-series-9-notebook-uk-release-date-revealed Gets some February loving

Samsung has finally announced just when its new Samsung Series 9 laptop is launching in the UK, revealing that it will be here by the end of February.

The Samsung Series 9 notebook is being touted as the slimmest laptop in the world, with a lean frame which measures just 12.9mm – or 0.5-inches in old money.

It's a laptop that has the Apple MacBook Air firmly in its sights, boasting some impressive specs including an Intel Core i5 processor, up to 4GB memory and 128GB SSD.

Samsung has also added something called Fast Start; this allows the Series 9 to wake up and be ready for work in just 1.48 seconds.

Considering it takes most of the TechRadar team three teas and a bacon sarnie, this is pretty speedy.

Whole 9 yards

The Series 9 comes with 7 hours' battery life, a 180% brighter HD+ SuperBright Plus screen – which means outdoor light is no longer this laptop's Kryptonite – and the 13-inch version weighs a mere 1.16kg.

The Samsung Series 9 notebook UK release date is 25 February and will be initially available from John Lewis. It will then find its way to other retailers soon after.

If you want to see the Samsung Series 9 laptop in action, then check out our video below:

2. If its 75% of the Air's cost, I'm in. If its the same cost, I might as well get an Air.

1. Any idea on the price? I'd imagine they'd charge a premium for something that looks as nice and performs as well as that does.

Apple to release iPad 3 in March, iPad 4 following in October

apple, ipad, ios, rumor, tablet, iphone 5, ipad 3, ipad 4Apple could be preparing to release two new iPads this year. The iPad 3 may be unveiled in March and a secondary tablet, dubbed the iPad 4, could arrive in October, according to Taiwan component makers via DigiTimes.
Update: In addition to the information divulged earlier by DigiTimes, 9to5mac has found references about quad-core processing in iOS 5.1 which is currently in beta. This upcoming OS update from Apple is supposed to be paired with a next-generation iPad 3 and potentially the iPhone 5.
The iPad 3 is expected to ship with a QXGA (2084 x 1536 pixels) display and improved battery life but other than these two enhancements, we are told not to expect much more from the tablet. Previous rumors had pointed to two iPad 3 models, a mid-range and high-end product, being unveiled at iWorld on January 26.
The latest speculation indicates that the iPad 2 will receive a price cut to $399 with the introduction of the iPad 3. The lower price would allow Apple to compete with other vendors such as Sony, Motorola and Samsung that offer tablets at a lower price point.
Sources expect the real battle for market share to take place in the second half of 2012 when Apple ships their iPad 4. This would be around the same time that Microsoft releases Windows 8 and Intel introduces its Clover Trail-W platform. These sources suggest that the iPad 4 would feature the same 9.7-inch display as the iPad 3 but would include upgraded hardware specifications and new applications. This could perhaps include the Samsung-manufactured quad-core A6 processor that has been rumored to be the successor to the dual-core A5 SoC.
DigiTimes has a mixed track record, especially when it comes to Apple rumors. As such, we suggest you take this latest dose with a grain of salt.

Facebook may be baked-in to next iOS 5 release

Social network may gets deep integration treatmentApple News By Chris Smith Tuesday at 19:02 UTC | Tell us what you think [ 1 comments ]

Tweet facebook-may-be-baked-in-to-next-ios-5-release Facebook may be coming to iOS 5

The next version of iOS 5 may include deep Facebook integration after references to the social network were uncovered in the latest developer build.

The iMore website have done a little digging around iOS 5.1 Beta 3 and discovered the presence of Facebook within the contacts app, alongside Twitter.

The screenshot could represent "legacy code" according to iMore, or could spell full-integration in iOS 5 or perhaps iOS 6.

Baked-in Facebook could give iOS users the opportunity to direct upload photos to the social network, while easier status updates would surely be included

Baked-in

Twitter was, of course, baked-in to iOS 5, while Facebook was left out when the two sides were unable to come to an agreement.

Rumour and speculation would have us believe that this decision led to more friction between the two companies, which began when Apple launched the iTunes Ping social network.

1. Isn't this the sort of thing Android has had forever?

The ability to share whatever from any app using Twitter, Facebook and any app that uses the sharing API.

Windows Phone Apollo update set for late 2012 release

Microsoft has made no secret that Apollo will be its next Windows Phone update after Tango but it seems we might be getting the release a little later than expected.

Back in October it was reported that the Windows Phone Apollo update will be coming mid-2012, but a leaked roadmap now suggests that Apollo will be coming in Q4 and will be aimed at the business/superphone market.

Superphone OS

It is likely that Apollo will turn out to be Windows Phone 8, with Microsoft hoping the new OS will offer a whole host of high-end features.

As it talks of superphones in the roadmap, this seems to be pointing to the eventual rise of quad core smartphones.

In an interview with TechRadar back in October, Niklas Savander, executive VP of Markets for Nokia, promised big things when it comes to Apollo's eventual release and hinted that this is when we really see the power of Nokia and Windows Phone.

"We made the decision to go to Windows Phone when Mango was pretty much done, so we were able to impact some elements of it but you'll really see the fruits of what we can do with Microsoft when the Apollo version of Windows Phone comes out," he explained.

We are hoping that Microsoft reveals some more details of Windows Phone Apollo at Mobile World Congress 2012.

Nokia Lumia 900 release date February 2012?

Nokia Lumia 900 release date February 2012?

Nokia is all set to release the Nokia Lumia 900 in February, if a tweet from Swiss telco Swisscom is to be revealed.

There's been much rumour and speculation about the Lumia 900 – a handset yet to be announced by Nokia.

Back in November a video with what appeared to be the handset was released and then there were reports the Lumia 900 would land early next year, after being shown off at CES 2012 in January.

Now, Swisscom has let slip on its @Swisscom_care Twitter account that the Nokia Lumia 900 release date will be February.

Bigger screen

The Lumia 900 is a handset that looks an awful lot like its predecessor, the Nokia Lumia 800.

The main difference is the size of the screen, which has been seemingly upped from 3.7 inches to a meaty 4.3 and will be a ClearBlack AMOLED display.

The phone is also set to ship with the forthcoming Windows Phone 'Tango' update.

TechRadar will be reporting from the show floor at CES 2012 in Las Vegas, so we will be sure to offer up official details on the handset when we get them. And if we don't see the Lumia 900 in Vegas, we'll have our eyes peeled for it at Mobile World Congress 2012 in February.
