BlackBerry Curve 9380 and Bold 9790 officially unveiled

More details emerge for RIM's two latest BlackBerry handsets, the Curve 9380 and the Bold 9790

We previously reported what appeared to be a screen spec leak of two new RIM BlackBerry handsets on the company’s own developer blog.

This has since turned out to be an official notification for developers on the upcoming phones, but now more information has come to light about the new Curve 9380 and the Bold 9790.

According to BGR’s ‘hands-on’ with both devices the Curve 9380, currently codenamed ‘Orlando’, will be the first fully touchscreen Curve model.

It’ll feature a 3.2-inch capacitive touchscreen at a resolution of 320x480 pixels and a pixel density of 189 pixels-per-inch (ppi).

Inside it sports an 800MHz processor, 1GB of onboard storage and an NFC chip. There’s also a 5-megapixel camera capable of 720p video capture.

The Bold 9790, also referred to as the ‘Bellagio’, will be more conventional BlackBerry fare with a fixed Qwerty keyboard and a smaller 2.4-inch touchscreen at the same resolution as its Curve cousin, but with a higher pixel density of 245ppi.

Power will be more impressive thanks to a 1.2GHz processor. It’ll feature the same 5-megapixel camera and NFC chip as the Curve but more storage space at 8GB capacity. Other features include GPS and Wi-Fi.

There's still no word on prices or availability from RIM but we’re expecting an official announcement any day now. It seems highly likely these BlackBerry handsets will launch within the next month or so.
