RIM has leaked screen specs of two new smartphones on its developer blog, the Bellagio 9790 and the Curve Touch 9380
Two new BlackBerry devices have been leaked online and what’s more the source of the breach is none other than RIM’s own BlackBerry developer blog.
There’s no way of knowing just at the moment whether this was deliberate or a complete blunder on the part of the company, to be honest we suspect the latter, but the info is out there now and it could mean we’re about to see an official launch announcement for the BlackBerry Bellagio 9790 and BlackBerry Curve Touch 9380.
So far the only details cover the touchscreen specs but they’re not exactly astounding.
The Curve Touch 9380 will feature a 480x360 pixel 3.2-inch capacitive touchscreen with a pixel density of 189 pixels-per-inch (ppi). Meanwhile, the new Bellagio 9790 has a smaller 2.4-inch screen at the same resolution and a higher pixel density of 245ppi.
Although there’s been no mention of it one way or the other, we doubt these are going to be the much-desired QNX-based handsets BlackBerry fans have long been hankering for.
RIM sure could do with a big product to change the company’s fortunes right now, if ever there was a time to launch a QNX smartphone or two, this would be it.
Yet more mid-range handsets aren’t going to improve things for RIM when you’ve got the iPhone 4S, iOS 5, Windows Phone Mango and some forthcoming Nokia Windows Phones to compete with.
Not forgetting, of course, the imminent arrival of Android Ice Cream Sandwich, the Google Nexus Prime and some new devices from Motorola.
