Confirmed: Droid 4 launching February 10th for $199.99

In case there was any doubt to the rumored release date, Verizon has issued a press release this morning which confirms the February 10th availability of the slide-out QWERTY device. Starting this Friday, the Droid 4 will sell for $199.99 with a new 2-year agreement or eligible upgrade.

The spec sheet for the Droid 4 includes:

The Droid 4 will certainly become the best QWERTY device available to Verizon customers when it launches later this week. If the Droid 4 gives you a feeling a deja vu, that’s most certainly because the Droid 4 looks just like the Droid RAZR with a slide-out keyboard.

Motorola lost a customer…
I was interested in replacing my 2 year old OG Moto Droid with the Droid 4. I loved having the hardware keyboard because I could write complex notes with numerical data & part numbers very easily. I had figured the Droid 4 was based on the Droid Razr and the PDF manual confirmed it for me. A couple weeks back, the Droid 4 PDF manual was posted on either Moto’s or VZW’s website. So I peeked at it and found it has a non-user replaceable battery.

What?!?! Why have a non-replaceable battery? Do they expect everyone to be AC power outlet tethered during the day? I frequently day trip and also use a spare battery for the OG Droid. I find that it can last the entire day with 2 batteries. Thats a whole days worth of GPS, google nav, browser, camera, photoshop, twitter, blog postings, phone calls, SMS, etc without plugging in to charge.

After I had found that PDF manual, I immediately went to VZW & got the Samsung Galaxy Nexus. I do miss the hardware QUERTY keyboard, but the Galaxy Nexus so far is a great phone.

Dear Motorola,
Stop with the sealed battery. You claim it makes the phone waterproof. I claim you created a known limitation. Battery capacity degrades over time. Why would I want to buy a device that will degrade over time. And the Droid Razr Maxx is a band-aid on a bullet wound.
Please just stop.

I’m in line for the Droid 4. Booyah b**ches!!
I love my Droid 2 (R2D2), but want something newer, I’ll be rooting and installing ICS and everything right away. I want the Hardware Keyboard with the number pad. Sooooooo glad I didn’t get the Droid 3.

I was confident this is the 4G slider I wanted (with at least dual core and 1GB of RAM.) But, the RAZR MAXX looks so tempting, especially with BOGO.

This is th first device I’ve even considered replacing my OG Droid with. Two plus years now I’ve followed along reading th reviews & ALL th comments about th latest greatest whatever device or software. In my opinion & from reading what you’ve had to say nothing frm anyone comes even remotely close to th quality dependability & stability of what was offered over 2 years ago. This new juggernaut frm Motorola IS faster with more memory & improved KB so I’ll wait a lil bit while th dust settles & upgrade 4 another two years on Verizon th worlds most dependable & expensive network. ..peace
