Since our Android smart phones contain so much of our personal information, it makes perfect sense to keep our phones secure. Enter Avira, the company that has brought our computers antivirus and firewall protection for years. They have released a beta version of their Free Android Security app for all your anti-theft needs.

There are many features in this app to keep your phone safe. You can lock the phone remotely by logging on to the Web Console from any browser, pinpoint a phone’s location on Google maps, or if someone finds your lost phone, they can call an alternate phone number to contact you. Avira will let you manage up to five devices on one account. Logging on to the Web Console will also let you see your battery life and records the security history of your device. Best of all, also using the Web Console, you can “Make It Scream” for those times that you know your phone is hidden under one of those sofa cushions.

Let us know in the comments if Avira makes you feel more secure about your Android device.

The app is free, and you can download it from the market link below.
